We spend a good deal of our time in our kitchen, but the potential for bacteria build-up is greater in the kitchen than almost any other area in our home. Here are some quick tips on how to keep your kitchen bacteria free.

Food preparation - Use a disinfecting wipe or spray after any food prep to kill lingering bacteria. Your cleaning product should say on the label it kills 99.9% of germs.

If preparing raw meat or poultry use only paper towels to wipe your hands and wash hands with soap and water when you are finished.

Short is cheaper than long - Cocktail dresses, typically knee-length or higher, are usually cheaper than gowns. Check out stores such as Forever 21, T.J. Max and Ross Dress for Less which offer trendy dresses (under $75.00). Consider having a seamstress make your prom dress if your really want a long one. Sometimes it is cheaper to go this way.

How To Remove Candle Wax From Carpet and Tables

I know so many people who have ruined carpets and tables trying to get candle wax off of them. Graham Haley of Haley’s Hints has a tried and true method for removing candle wax. First you get a paper towel and fold it in half. Then heat your iron to medium heat. Cover the candle wax stain with the paper towel. Press the iron to the towel and leave for a few seconds, then move it around the paper towel pressing each spot for a few seconds until all candle wax has been absorbed.

Safe Way To Clean Costume Jewelry

Graham Haley author of Haley’s Hints has this great tip on how to clean costume jewelry. It is so easy and very inexpensive. Here are his instructions:

Take two denture tablets and dissolve them in water. Place your piece of costume jewelry in the solution and let it soak for 30 minutes. Remove jewelry from solution and see how sparkly clean it is.
