Candle Wax Removal

I know so many people who have ruined carpets and tables trying to get candle wax off of them. Graham Haley of Haley’s Hints has a tried and true method for removing candle wax. First you get a paper towel and fold it in half. Then heat your iron to medium heat. Cover the candle wax stain with the paper towel. Press the iron to the towel and leave for a few seconds, then move it around the paper towel pressing each spot for a few seconds until all candle wax has been absorbed.

If your candle was colored then you will need pour rubbing alcohol on the slight stain that remains after you have removed the wax. Rub the stain with a denture toothbrush until the stain disappears. Check your carpet for color fastness by testing an out of the way spot first. Put a small drop of alcohol and blot with paper towel – if color comes off on the towel your carpet is not colorfast and you may not use alcohol to remove the stain.

To remove candle wax from a wooden table get your blow dryer and direct warm air on the wax until the wax softens. Then use a paper towel to wipe up the liquified wax. Remove any greasy residue with a paper towel soaked with a mild vinegar and water solution. Dry thoroughly.
